My Goal of the Project
My goal was to learn techniques of drawing manga such as uses of paper and pen, to be able to draw objects and people clearly, to make clearly understand rule of shogi, and teach Japanese culture of shogi to audiences by reading my comic book product. To achieve these goals, I should learn both, shogi and manga knoeladge because I have two themes in this project. And for my final outcome was to make a comic book about shogi to make people know what shogi is and to participate in of comic books’ auditions in Japan.
Global Context
Considering the goals, the global context I felt most strongly connected was personal and cultural expression. This context inquiries into the ways in which we ‘discover and express ideas, feelings, culture, beliefs and values.’ In the case of my project, there are two themes which are shogi and comic book. Both are Japanese traditional culture and has strong connection with the global context of 'personal and cultural expression'. Comic book portrays drawer’s idea and feeling throughout an art and shogi is the object to express traditional board game. In this way, I was able to understand drawing comic book is one of the cultures and can inspire people’s feeling.
